SUMMARY:Overcoming Employment Barriers Lunch & Learn
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that as an employer you may receive financial incentives for hiring job seekers who have barriers to finding employment? \nPartnership Grand Strand has teamed up with SC Works and the Waccamaw Council of Governments to bring to you a lunch and learn on how to capitalize on these incentives. \nLearn about the benefits of hiring veterans\, second-chance employees and those with disabilities. \nTopics covered will include: \n\nWork Opportunity Tax Credit - Available to employers for hiring individuals with employment barriers.\nFederal Bonding - For high-risk individuals with background or credit issues. Federal bonding will provide security for up to six months at no charge to the employer.\nPaid work experience/internships - Paid work experience/internships are a planned\, structured learning experience that takes place in a workplace for a limited period. It is designed to provide hands on experience for individuals who are lacking skills within a certain industry.\nOn The Job Training - Designed to fulfill the needs of local employers by allowing them to train new hires while they are working and learning job skills. SUMMARY:Y.E.S. Program: Youth Employability Skills Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Y.E.S. program will consist of an employability workshop that will cover topics such as soft skills\, resume/application building and mock interviews for youth and young adult participants. Once the training is complete the youth participants will have the opportunity to showcase their new skills to a group of employer partners committed to offering a guaranteed job interview to the participants who fully complete the program. \nWe encourage youth and young adults (14-24 years of age) to attend one of the workshops at Myrtle Beach Adult Education Center held on June 5 - June 8.
