South Carolina Ranks 5th in State Population Growth 2023-24
US Census numbers have just been updated, and our total US Population is up 1%. (Bringing our nation
to a total of 340 million people). The great state of South Carolina experienced a 1.7% population
increase and thereby outpaced the national numbers. This Percent growth ranks South Carolina as the
5th strongest state in the US.
What’s even more interesting is the data that includes Myrtle Beach, Conway and North Myrtle Beach.
This geography grew 3.8% to a population of 413,391 people. This kind of growth places our local
community 3rd in the top 10 of US metro growth areas.
The growth rate in the Southern US has been strong for many years, but what’s shifted is an acceleration
of Myrtle Beach growth rates vs. other southern metro areas. There’s no denying that momentum is
high in the Horry County area as well as the entire state of South Carolina.
