On January 16th, 2025, Palmetto Goodwill of Horry County celebrated its first cohort of ICAN (Individual Career Assessment and Navigation) re-entry program graduates. This transformative program focuses on Career Navigation Activities, Case Management, and Job Preparation services, empowering individuals who have been released from incarceration to make positive contributions to the workforce and the economy.

The Grand Strand ICAN Reentry Program has already made a remarkable impact:

  • 15 ICAN Team Members accepted positions at Goodwill after completing the program.
  • 3 Team Members were promoted to Retail Team Member III.
  • 1 Team Member was promoted to Retail Team Member IV.
  • 1 Team Member advanced to the position of Team Lead.
  • 8 ICAN Team Members secured employment outside of Goodwill, with an average hourly salary of $17.00.
  • 7 ICAN Team Members transitioned from living in transitional housing or shelters to securing their own apartments, achieving a significant milestone toward stability and independence.
  • 2 ICAN Team Members received assistance in having their driver’s licenses reinstated, further enabling their mobility and employment opportunities.
  • 15 ICAN Team Members earned OSHA 10 and Customer Service pre-apprenticeship certifications, enhancing their skill sets and job readiness.

This program’s success is made possible through a collaborative partnership with United Way of Horry County, New Directions, SC Works, Apprentice Carolina, Horry Georgetown Technical College, and Partnership Grand Strand. Together, these organizations provide a robust support system to help participants overcome barriers, gain critical skills, and succeed in the workforce.

Employers seeking motivated, well-trained candidates to contribute to their teams are encouraged to connect with this exceptional pool of talent. For more information or to discuss hiring opportunities, please contact Chad Sample at [email protected].
