Did you know that out of over 8,500 employers in Horry County, 94% have fewer than 50 employees? This information was released in Imagine 2040, the future Comprehensive Plan for Horry County.
Many of these small businesses began as home-based ventures, eventually expanding to require commercial space to meet the demands of their growth.
That’s why small businesses in our County are a BIG deal! Our economy thrives on their success. “Support small businesses” shouldn’t just be a slogan—it should be a call to action that we, as residents, wholeheartedly embrace and act on regularly.
These businesses are the lifeblood of our community. As they grow and expand into commercial spaces, they create jobs and opportunities for local residents. From hiring new employees to engaging vendors for maintenance, upgrades, materials, and more, the ripple effects of even a single small business can have a significant impact on the community.
Supporting small businesses is vital to sustaining these BIG deals. Challenge yourself to think of a small business today and make supporting them a priority. Their success is our community’s success.
